Some Stuff about Revisions. And Full Requests. And Tummydactyls. (Yes, That’s a Word — I Just Made it Up.)

Do you ever feel like you have to blog, but have absolutely no idea what to write about? That’s me today. I think I have burned my brain out on thesis work and writing Zombies. So here I sit typing away at my desk, chugging Red Bull, scarfing sushi, and  listening to Blue Oyster Cult… with nary a theme or a subject to be found.

OH! I got it! …I think…

So everyone knows that I have published Dr. Fixit’s Malicious Machine and it’s been selling pretty okay for a book that has about as big an advertising budget  as an ant (and maybe less; at least they have the Discovery Channel). What some of you may NOT know is that it’s being looked at by a pretty awesome literary agency right now. I won’t go into details here for fear of jinxing it (yeah — I’m not taking ANY chances, even slim ones). I will say that they’ve had the manuscript for a little over seven weeks now after requesting the full from my query, so I’m hoping that’s a good sign. And yeah I got a confirmation e-mail, so it didn’t get lost in cyberspace.

Butterflies ain’t got nothin’ on my tummydactyls!

Though I’m pretty confident about most of it (if I wasn’t I wouldn’t have published it of course), especially after reading this article on about how agencies are actually looking at self-published manuscripts more and more. However, I have since then figured out exactly what was still bugging me about the end (no spoilers I promise), and I can fix it likerightoweasy and make it amazingly better! The problem? Unless the agency gives me the chance to revise it, I will have blown it… again… and all because of one scene (for the most part).

I know, I know. Chances are that if they like the majority of the manuscript, they’ll at least offer a revise and resubmit. I’ve been around the block a few times after all. Still, when your dreams hang by the thread of one ill-timed revision, it can feel like the world really might end any moment.

Yeah. Tummydactyls for sure…
